School districts are faced with the growing need to create robust multi-tiered systems of supports. Attorney Alefia Mithaiwala will demonstrate how school staff can utilize already existing structures, such as Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act or student study teams, to further MTSS objectives. She will highlight common accommodations that may not be working for students and workshop with attendees how to revise them to ensure more effective access, equity, and fidelity in implementation. Attendees will leave with specific examples and strategies for drafting and revising student accommodations that grow student independence and resiliency over time and work for all, students and teachers alike.
